Portrait of a Person Who Gives of Himself

Ike Johnstone introduces Bill Pickett Riding Academy located in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia.  Johnstone dedicates himself to the cause of the Academy which is to build self-esteem and life skills among at-risk youth in Philadelphia.

I decided to edit an interview with Philly native, Brenda Reed. I was drawn to this interview because Brenda often spoke about building up her community through various ways, such as volunteer work, education and music. I conveyed these interests in my edited piece. I formed my final piece by listening to the entire interview and pulling out specific clips which I found interesting and tied together my overall theme. Once I had collected numerous clips I tried to organize them into a story. Although I was not able to use all of my clips I organized the most important ones in a way that expressed a little bit of information on Brenda Reed and her work for her community in Philadelphia.
